ouch harsh but true

the one option not listed is the Arabs becoming civilized and embracing peaceful coexistence or at the very least prioritizing the cultivating of their own societies and children over the attempted destruction of another. but we can't expect miracles!

the poor Jews can never win, escaping the cauldron of Europe just when it decides to commit suicide (but Jews into the volcano first!) only to jump into the cauldron of the Arab world, where there's no higher conception of human achievement than maybe getting to murder an infidel and enslaving his wife or daughter.

one more certainty is that the Jewish state won't be able to rely on the Western liberal democracies, the morally castrated and spiritually exhausted leaders here won't even lift a finger to protect their own people from Islamic stabbings and rape gangs, never mind Jews in Israel.

What I may perhaps be wrong about is this: a collapse of Israel may invite some top quality Muslim human and physical capital into the Holy Land. That would improve things for a while. But then, two or three generations down, are we in a civilisational revival or in the same boat we are in today? You're right. It could be different, perhaps. But would you bet your life and your country on it?

"top quality Muslim human and physical capital into the Holy Land..."

not sure this exists outside the West, at least until there's some kind of Islamic Reformation and church/state religion/civil society can be cleaved.

"But would you bet your life and your country on it?" I definitely would not, so I guess the best that Israel can hope for is some sort of unseen historical curve up ahead somewhere, one that makes eliminating the Jewish state an afterthought for the Arab world.

History is full of surprises!

Thanks and really enjoyed your piece.
