Mr. Modad, this is an excellent post; I read it aloud to my girl and have recommended it to several ppl. Periodically, I'll return to re-read it. I'm anxiously awaiting the book release. Do you have an estimated date for that?
Is not the tribal focus on your religious group what led lebanon to a civil war, rather than the PSP's aspirations of secularism? Are you suggesting it is naive to believe in a lebanon that prioritizes democratic values over religious ties, and breaks free from external influences? Has the zero sum game logic of the Druse allying with ruling elites not made the region more volatile (Syria has fallen to western imperialism and Zionism as we know is imploding)? At least you're honest about not having any ideals.

Working on it.

I am rarely at a loss for words, but this time I am.
What are democratic values? Where do they come from? What assumptions underpin them?
Why would the region not be volatile?
And why would my ideals be about politics, given what I know about the nature of politics?
